Itinerary

DAY 1: / ARRIVAL TO PONFERRADA

From your arrival point in Spain, you will travel to the Castilian region and Ponferrada, a city in northwestern Spain. Los Templarios Castle has a moat and drawbridge, and houses the Knights Templars’ Library. The Basílica Nuestra Señora de la Encina is a Renaissance church with a 17th-century bell tower.

DAY 2: / PONFERRADA TO VEGA DE VALCARCE

Your first stage on the Way, today you will pass by the towns of Villafranca del Bierzo and Trabadelo. Your day will finish in the village of Vega de Valcarce and the castle of Sarracín. Cycling Distance: 41km

DAY 3: / VEGA DE VALCARCE TO TRIACASTELA

Following breakfast in Vega de Valcarce, you will depart to Tricastela named after the three castles that once stood there- none of which still stand. Triacastela is also your first stop in Galicia on your way to Santiago. Cycling Distance: 32km

DAY 4: / TRICASTELA TO PORTOMARÍN

Departing Tricastela your day takes you past the town of Sarria a popular starting point for walkers on the French Way Camino. Porotmarín on the shores of the river Mino is a walled church fortress of San Nicolás. Cycling Distance: 41km

DAY 5: / PORTOMARÍN TO ARZÚA

Following breakfast in Portomarín, you will travel to your last overnight before Santiago in Arzúa. On the Way, you will pass the town of Palas de Rei and the church of San Tirso, the castle of Pambre. Cycling Distance: 53km

DAY 6: / ARZÚA TO SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELLA

Your day begins in Arzúa and you are ready for your last stage into Santiago de Compostela. On the Way you will pass O Pederouzo the last major town before Santiago. On your last leg to Santiago de Compostella and when passing Monte del Gozo you will have your first glimpse of Santiago and in its centre, the magnificent Praza do Obradoiro Santiago de Compostella. Cycling Distance: 39km

DAY 7 / SANTIAGO

Our services end with breakfast but don’t forget to visit the Pilgrim Office to collect your Compostela!
