The Wicklow Way is Ireland’s Oldest Way marked Trail. The Wicklow Way travels from Clonegal in the south to Marley Park in the north. (The trail can easily be reversed to north to south). Starting on the gentle slopes in the south, The Wicklow Way crosses a number of mountainous valleys to its end in Marley Park in the southern suburbs of Dublin City.

This 8 Day tour takes you from Aughrim village to Dublin City for two nights giving you the opportunity to explore Ireland’s Capital City.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Aughrim

You will arrive in the town of Rathdrum from Dublin by public transport. You will be picked in Rathdrum and transported to your first accommodation, which is in the village of Aughrim.

Day 2 Iron Bridge to Glenmalure

This section is mainly on forest track and country road. Not a difficult walk with options to shorten or lengthen the walk. The Glenmalure Valley is the longest glacier valley in Ireland and your accommodation is in the middle. Distance: 14 km, Ascent: 520 m Approximate walking time: 4 hrs

Day 3 Glenmalure to Glendalough

A superb walk with breathtaking views of the Glenmalure Valley, the Lakes of Glendalough and its 6th Century Monastic City. This monastic settlement was the hob of learning in Europe from the 6th until the 12th century. Distance: 14km, Ascent 450 m Approximate walking time: 4 hrs

Day 4 Glendalough to Roundwood

The walk today is easy with an option to extend it by an extra 7Km. Roundwood is the highest village in Ireland. We will also give you an option to take in a mountain called Scarr; this is beautiful and on a good day will give you some fantastic views. Distance: 10km, Ascent: 250 m Approximate walking time: 3 hrs

Day 5 Roundwood to Enniskerry

The walk today is easy with an option to extend it by an extra 7Km. Roundwood is the highest village in Ireland. We will also give you an option to take in a mountain called Scarr; this is beautiful and on a good day will give you some fantastic views. Distance: 10km, Ascent: 250 m Approximate walking time: 3 hrs

Day 6 Overnight Dublin City

The last section takes you over Prince William’s Seat where you will have stunning views over most of Dublin City, the Irish Sea and your final views back into the Wicklow Hills. Your trip finishes on a splendid trail that leads you into Marlay Park. From Marley Park you will take the public transport to Dublin City Distance: 17 km, Ascent: 150 m Approximate walking time: 5

Day 7 Overnight Dublin City

Today you will have the opportunity to explore Dublin City and all it has to offer.

Day 8 Depart

Your tour ends today and from Dublin you make your plans for further travel.
